Who am I? I don' know. If you find out, let me in on the secret, wouldja?
I can tell you what I do though.
- I work for Computing Services at Carnegie Mellon University. They call me a "Macintosh Systems Programmer," but mostly I do OS and infrastructure support for public lab macs, as well as a bunch of other systems integration/monitoring/analysis/trobuleshooting sort of things.
- I read email sent to user jf6b at either andrew.cmu.edu or abtech.org.
- I participate in the MacEnterprise.org project, although I wish I had more time to contribute to it.
- I've taught a half day course for LOPSA.
- I like doing security work. Sometimes I even find vulnerabilities.
- I'm a big fan of the tool, radmind, which I use a lot in my work. It's the greatest thing since depot.
- When I'm not working for CMU, I can often be found working for Hollowood Sound. No, I don't do it to watch the bands. I do it to watch the crowds.
- I finally finished up work on the BS in Computational Physics One more thing off the todo list. Only 299,474 items to go.
- I've done some work for the Tunnel Radio Project here in Pittsburgh, mostly for the new AM and FM systems in the Fort Pitt Tunnel.
- I've been involved for way too long (OK, I'll admit it, I once was co-chair) with AB Tech at CMU.
- I used to be Station Manager for the Carnegie Tech Amateur Radio Club, but now I let other people do that. Which is great because now I don't have to feel guilty for not getting stuff done. I still show up to do VE testing on occasion.
- When I can find the time, I do a lot of my own maintenance on my 1999 Isuzu Rodeo. When that stumps me, I turn to the insanely clueful folks in the Isuzu forums at 4x4wire.com.
- That's actually my second 1999 Rodeo though. My first one came to a tragic end. We had some good times while they lasted though.
- I'm still searching for an Annie Oakley of my very own, although I fear I may have already lost her.
- I enjoy hiking, and have re-discovered cycling. One of these days it'd be cool to climb my great-great-great uncle's mountain, but I need just a wee bit more experience first.
- I spend some of the little free time I have pondering a distributed sensing/control project. I don't know if it will ever get off the ground, but if it does, it will be very cool.
- I've traveled some long, lonely roads in my short stay on this planet. I fear I have more of them to travel, but I know that everything has its limits.
